Portuguese Football Federation lashed out at Chelsea conduct

The Portuguese Football Federation were lashed to Chelsea for the announcement during Euro 2008 that Luiz Felipe Scolari had accepted an offer to coach the Premier League.

FPF president Gilberto Madail, addressed the media on Friday morning following his team for the Eradication of Championship of Europe at the hands of Germany and believes that the timing of the announcement of imminent departure Scolari had a destabilizing effect.

Steve McClaren has pledged to build on the achievements of Fred Rutten predecessor, after being confirmed as the new coach of FC Twente Friday.

The former director of England, who has been unemployed since November after the failure of countries to qualify for Euro 2008, has accepted a two-year contract face the Eredivisie club.

McClaren takes over from Rutten, who joined Bundesliga side Schalke in April after guiding Twente to a place in the preliminary rounds of the Champions League last season.

Robson had two spells in Holland, in charge of PSV Eindhoven in the beginning and the end of 1990, winning the title in 1991 and 1992.

Zoltan Gera has refused a new contract with West Brom and decided to join Fulham, according to the Midlands club.

The new promoted Premier League side desperately wanted to keep the 29-year-old midfielder but he chose to go ahead.

"Zoltan having offered the best contract, the club could at that time, we could do more," said manager Tony Mowbray.

"We want to Zoltan every success in his future career.

"Everyone in Albion appreciated his professionalism on and off the field.

"But football passes and, as we did last summer, we look forward to the challenge of finding new faces to strengthen the team for the upcoming season."

Sheffield United today launched their final legal challenge on Carlos Tevez affair in an effort to win compensation for having been relegated a year ago.

The blades took West Ham to an arbitration hearing and are seeking between £ 30 million and £ 50million in compensation.

The Championship club claim the Hammers are responsible for their relegation from the Premier League a year ago, and to play Tevez, their request was ineligible.

West Ham have denied any opportunity to settle before the hearing and insist that they have a solid case, based mainly on the grounds that they had provided all relevant information on Tevez in the Premier League, which subsequently declared "attacker eligible after the Hammers were £ 5.5million fined for violating rules of a third party ownership of players.

Sheffield United has lost an arbitration hearing against the Premier League last year and this action, which takes place under the auspices of the Football Association, is the last throw of the dice.

Blades are hoping Tevez's representative, Kia Joorabchian, May provide new information to persuade the panel last May to find in their favour.

Tevez transferred from West Ham to Manchester United last summer after Joorabchian's company, Media Sports Investments, has agreed to pay the London Club £ 2million.

Alexandre Song has signed a new long-term contract at Arsenal.

The Cameroon international, who has six caps to his name, supports a position civilian clothes but played at centre-back for the last five games of the 2007-08 Premier League season.

Song, 20, originally joined Arsenal french club Bastia on a season-long loan deal in 2005.

He then signed a permanent contract with the Gunners next summer before being loaned to Charlton for the 2006-07 season.

Song remained with the Arsenal team last season, the 15 first team appearances.

McCormick granted conditional bail in court charges of causing death

Plymouth goalkeeper Luke McCormick was released on parole granted in court today over charges of causing death by dangerous driving, driving with excess alcohol and driving without insurance.

The mother of two boys killed in the incident, Amanda Peak, 30, was clutching a teddy bear and a framed photo of her son Arron, 10, and Ben, eight, as she watched.

McCormick appeared at Fenton magistrates' court in Stoke-on-Trent and received conditional bail. It appears next in Stoke Crown Court on June 16.

The owner was arrested after his black Range Rover struck a Toyota boys were travelling on the M6 in Staffordshire early Saturday morning, they made their way to the Silverstone circuit one day.

The boys father, Phil Peak, 37, who was driving the Toyota, was seriously wounded in the left.

He suffered a suspected broken neck and back in the accident and was treated at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.

Three other occupants of the Toyota were treated at hospital for minor injuries.

Plymouth today issued a statement confirming that they take no action until the legal process is complete.

"Plymouth Argyle considers it inappropriate to comment or take any action in regard to Luke McCormick, at this stage," the statement read.

"We intend to make a full and detailed report when the judicial process is complete, but not before.

"However, the club recalled that he sends his deepest condolences to the family and friends Arron and Ben Peak.

"They are much in our thoughts and prayers at this sad moment".

Ms. Peak, 30, paid tribute to his son yesterday and said that the family, Partington, Manchester, were "devastated" by the accident.

She added: "No parent should have to go through the nightmare that we have known."

McCormick, 24, is a former England youth international who was twice voted Argyle's young player of the season.

The talented teenager has spoken to all three clubs, according to Bluebirds chairman Peter Ridsdale.

Ramsey revealed Ridsdale had already talked with manager Sir Alex Ferguson United and officials at Everton and should speak with Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger this weekend.

Ridsdale told the News of the World: "I spoke to Aaron on Friday evening.

"He told me he had a great day at United and was on his way to see Arsène. After that, the final decision rests with the boy.

Steve McClaren has admitted he is interested to replace Mark Hughes at Blackburn after what he describes as the "great failure" of his time as England manager.

McClaren, 47, has been without work since England failing to qualify for Euro 2008 and is keen for the opportunity to return to football.

Having recently been linked with Dutch club FC Twente, McClaren told BBC Radio 5 Live it would take Ewood Park following Hughes defection to Manchester City.

"Of course I'm interested," said the former head of Middlesbrough.

"Unfortunately what happened with England was a huge failure but I would like to return to management."

McClaren admitted he had not been approached by Blackburn, which set no time limit on finding Hughes replacement.

Former Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce and MK Dons manager Paul Ince have also been linked to employment.
